It's nice to have a "vision" - so we decided to lay out how we see Voce progressing over the next few years.

As you'll have seen in our ethos, our aim is to make top quality music, with a challenging and varied repertoire, a vibrant social element, and without being a burden on the busy members of the choir.

First, a quick look back at our early years...

  2003 2004 2005 2006
Spring - Major Work (started in April 2003) Mozart Requiem/ Bach Cantatas Mozart Mass in C Minor Brahms Requiem
Summer English Africa & Europe (Renaissance) "English Genius" Bach (+ Summer extras)
Autumn Gospel Russia & Eastern Europe Arabic & North African Monteverdi Vespers
Christmas Carols by Candelight Carols by Candelight Carols by Candelight Carols by Candelight
Tour/ Other   Drakensberg Boys Choir joint concert; Amnesty International Concert Tour to Tunisia;

Fauré Requiem at St. John's Smith Square
Breast Cancer Haven concert
Russian Recital Cambridge

Looking back, we felt that our finest hours had been the Mozart Mass in C Minor, the Frank Martin Mass, and the more contemporary music.

We decided that from here on, we should try to:

bulletSing a challenging major work each Spring
bulletDo either a tour or a recording each year
bulletAim for more a cappella works (avoiding the need for big orchestras or visiting soloists)
bulletEncourage choir-members to commit for a few years - so we know we're all developing together.

Here's how our "5 year plan" is panning out...  (As you can see, we're well on our way through it now...)
