A reflection from our MD Suzi Digby OBE

What a concert! It was a special experience to present a concert of living composers. We are experiencing a new Golden Age of choral composition. New choral music is now beautiful, moving and original. The audience were spell-bound and deeply appreciative. Ten years ago, it would have been hard to fill a hall in eager anticipation of contemporary music.  And, for the singers of Voce, this was a highlight of the Voce calendar and provided deep gratification. There were many highlights, but for me, our world première of Tim Brown’s 18-part ‘Senex’, dedicated to us, was the crowning glory.

Comments from the audience

Most magnificent venue at St.George’s in Bloomsbury last night for the latest Voce Choir Concert "Stars", with a most reverberating acoustic, which lead to outstanding resonance results. Marvellous Choir ensemble a cappella directed not only by the ever wunderbar Suzi Digby OBE but also by the assistant Conductor Lisa Ross, herself part of the Voce Choir for five years, with wonderful polyphonic composition by living Composers, including a World premiere by Timothy Brown, to the great delight of the audience. Very enjoyable, intriguing unusual harmonies and fluent movements of the Choir ensemble, a great evening!!!

The balance of voices was really smooth and I thought the dynamics were thrilling. Such a variety of tone and colour that I was enthralled throughout.
