How does Voce recruit?
Voce recruits on a termly basis (January, May and September). We survey the current choir to find out who is available to sing the following term, and then audition to fill any gaps. Please be aware that spaces are relatively sparse, especially in the soprano section.
If you would like us to consider you the next time we have a space for your voice part, then please fill out the form with your details. We will hold your details for a year, and if an appropriate space becomes available during this time, then we will contact you to invite you to audition.
Unfortunately we receive too many expressions of interest to be able to reply to everyone individually. You should therefore receive an automated message to indicate that your application has been safely received.
What happens at the audition?
If you're invited to audition then you should bring a short piece or extract from a piece (around 2 minutes) which shows off your voice. We can accompany you on the piano if you like. There will also be some range tests and a quick sight-reading test. You don't have to note-perfect to pass the sight-reading, but we learn music quickly in the choir so non-readers would struggle.
Before you audition we'll send you a rehearsal schedule. Please take a look for the term ahead and check you can make all the dates. We're not too pernickety, but our general rule is full attendance for each project.
Voce rehearses on Monday evenings 7-9pm at the Holy Redeemer Church in Clerkenwell (see map below).
